Bear is a 9 year old Pomeranian. He was an owner surrender and came in with Willow, who has found her new home. So Bear lived with a 80 pound dog and 5 cats. In his foster home he has lived with 8 adult dogs, 8 puppies and 2 cats. He can hold his own. He loves to just sit in your lap, and when he is not in your lap he is right there at your feet. Bear also will sleep in bed with you and when you tell him to move he will go down by your feet to sleep. He loves car rides and will curl up on the front seat and take a nap. Walks well on leash, and will let you know when he needs to go out. When he first came into rescue he went around and marked a few places, but has not done it since until a new dog came into the house and he only marked once, since he was caught in the act. Bear is considered a "Special Needs Dog". When he was a puppy something happened to his back legs and as a result he holds one up when he walks and runs. Yes, he walks and runs on 3 legs. Shortly before he went to see our vet about his legs, he started coughing, at first it seemed like it may of been allergies, but it lingered so he went to see the vet again and a heart murmur was detected and he was put on medication. He also was given medication for his cough (collapsing Trachea). His cough got better and we soon realized that it would start back up if he barked too much. Bear is normally not a barker, but if he feels threatened he will let you know. Anyway he had his re-check and his heart murmur is still there, it hasn't gotten any worse, but he needs to stay on his medication. Even though Bear has issues with his back legs he gets around just fine, he can not jump up onto things, but can go up a small step and will jump down from a chair, he can not use a doggie door, and he has a ramp to help him get up and down from the high bed. Bear is a 6 and 1/2 pound bundle of joy and will be a good companion. Because of his size, he can not be placed in a home with small children. Bear's adoption fee is $150.00 and includes his microchip, neuter, current DHPP and rabies vaccinations and any medication that is on hand. A Pima County License Transfer fee of $11.00 will also be collected at the time of his adoption.
